Wow. The things that happen to you. Why aren't you a movie, or at least a cartoon?

I ask myself this question often.

Aww I miss that determined old man. He was a good one. I do love your current feathered dinosaurs too though. Definitely easier to hold (even if they run from me).

What joy that he's found a forever home that indulges him with walks!

Chickens really are dinosaurs.

Great story. Did you know that Charles Darwin "owned/adopted" a tortoise that was later owned by Steve Irwin. They, unlike their dinosaur predecessors, live a very long time. I enjoy you stories.

I did not know that! That's amazing. Thanks for reading--I enjoy you being here! :)

I love turtles, especially box turtles. When I was young, we used to go visit my grandparents in Lynn Haven, Florida. They had a nice home in a wooded area and my brother and I would go looking for box turtles so we could feed them. They loved lettuce, celery and hamburger meat. We would watch them dig holes and bury their eggs. It was awesome. So on a trip to Florida one year, as an adult. I was on a two lane highway down there and saw a turtle on the side of the road. OMG, I stopped and came back for him and took him across the road so he wouldn't get squished. I took him across the street and over the berm. Then, when I got back in the car, I thought, "did I put him down going in the right direction?...had he just crossed the road and was heading into the berm on the right...or was he just trying to cross over the highway to the left? I was a mess. To this day, I don't know if he survived the highway, or had to turn around and recross the highway because I faced him the wrong way.. His box was closed, so I couldn't tell....

He survived. They're too resilient. And you're a good egg. :)

I’m looking forward to your kids memoirs. Great story. Every family needs to experience an un domesticated animal. Haha. We had a bunny, Abby. She knew to poop in her cage so we let her hop around the family room. But she chewed on the rug, furniture… One night I hosted my writer’s group and Abby chewed up Suzette’s Coach purse.

I always wanted a goofy name for our dogs but my fam wouldn’t allow it. They still remember as a Can you believe this?— when I wanted to name Simon, Uncle Abe.

My kids' memoirs?! There's a harrowing thought. Also, Uncle Abe is a solid name. I'm with you. Your fam missed out on a solid opportunity.
