Our epic vacations were driving vacations through the American west, in the car 10 hours per day. One time we tried camping in Rocky Mountain National Park, not properly equipped for cold weather. My little sister’s air mattress deflated, we were all freezing, no one wanted to admit it and go to the car to warm up. I hated vacation. When I grew up, my kids went to the same rustic resort on Lake Michigan 2 hours away every year until they grew up.

My husband is trying to go to sleep but the bloody towels made me laugh too much so it’s your fault he can’t get some peace.
I take full responsibility. Apologies to your husband and nothing but gratitude to you for reading. :)
You're far more generous of spirit than I.
Well, at least in this context, I enjoy the luxury of multiple drafts and the privilege of editorializing. ;)
I guess if the occupants are children under the age of 13...otherwise all bets are off.
Well put.
Those people in their Beamers...I know, right?
I pray for my patience. So that the Beamer occupants remain safe. ;)

“I hated vacation.” Got to that sentence and laugh-snorted. Most people don’t want to admit that, but it seems more true than not.
Epic-- love the bathtub pic!
I know the photographer. ;)
Makes me think of all my vacations. Maybe no bloody towels or beer in a bubble bath but each one is special in its own way.
Beer in river rafts maybe?
Wonderfully funny.
Thanks for reading, Peter!
Great reminder of family life and gratitude. Thank you
Family life and gratitude… practically synonyms. Thanks for reading, Dana! :)
Great post! Your style and humor remind me of Ken Levine.
Thanks for the kind words! I'm not familiar with Ken Levine. Any specific material you would point me at?
